Attorney W. James Hoffmeyer
Born in Florence, South Carolina, W. James Hoffmeyer attended the University of South Carolina and the University of South Carolina School of Law. Upon graduation in 1992 Mr. Hoffmeyer was admitted to the South Carolina Bar association and returned to Florence to begin his career with the firm of Nettles and Nettles focusing on litigation. In 1998 he became a partner and the firm changed its name to Nettles, McBride and Hoffmeyer. Then, in 2002, he started The Law Office of W. James Hoffmeyer.
W. James Hoffmeyer is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, American Bar Association and the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is licensed to practice law in the State Courts of South Carolina, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has argued appellate cases before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia.
W. James Hoffmeyer has been practicing law for more than twenty years and has extensive experience in State and Federal Court. Frances Ridgill Benton, Paralegal
Frances Ridgill Benton (Francy) is originally from Darlington and currently lives in Florence, South Carolina with her husband and two children. She has assisted Mr. Hoffmeyer for the past 10 years in all areas of his practice. Mrs. Benton is an experienced paralegal assisting Mr. Hoffmeyer in preparing pleadings, motions, and voir dire requests, responding to lawsuits as well as filing them, and maintaining Mr. Hoffmeyer’s calendar. Mrs. Benton also assists Mr. Hoffmeyer in Court and is responsible for all electronic filings required in criminal and civil cases in Federal Court.
